Post Doctoral Position in Speech Recognition, Reykjavik University, Iceland

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the area of computational speech processing. We are looking for a scientist/engineer with a PhD and experience in machine learning, statistics, and speech processing or in a closely related field. The ability to communicate and work as part of a highly interactive research team is essential. The project will focus on the development of dynamical modeling of recorded speech with special attention on linear Gaussian models, switching linear dynamical systems and continuos-valued hidden dynamic models. The principal investigator is Jon Gudnason of Reykjavik University and coinvestigators are Sigurdur Freyr Hafstein of Reykjavik University and Mike Brookes of Imperial College London.

Qualifications:
Applicants should have received a doctoral degree in engineering, computer science, economics or a related discipline, or completion of all requirements for the degree should be expected prior to the starting date. A successful applicant should have an experience in machine learning, statistics, speech processing or in a closely related field and be able to program in C/C++, Python and/or Matlab.

Appointment:
The appointment is available from December 1, 2010 and is initially for one year. It may be renewed subject to availability of funds for up to two additional years. The participant will be selected based on academic records, recommendations, research interests and compatibility of background.

Details:
